Tim Brenneman is executive vice president, personal insurance & private client, and leads the personal insurance business unit of Cook Maran, where he is also a member of the agency’s executive committee and board of directors.
Tim is responsible for the agency’s 10,000 personal insurance customers and manages a sales and service team of 36. He also created and directs the private client services division, which is dedicated to providing risk assessment and insurance alternative for the high net worth market. Most recently, he created Cook Maran Services as the educational arm of the company and brought back real estate education to the East End of Long Island.
Tim also directs Blue Point Brokerage, the company’s wholesale organization, and serves as a program administrator for the Lexington coastal homeowner program. Blue Point has a full service personal and commercial insurance offering for insurance brokers in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
He previously worked at the Edward F. Cook Agency in East Hampton, joining the agency after spending four years in field and home office management with Crum & Forster Personal Insurance. Tim began his insurance career with Allstate in 1981 and held a variety of management positions in operations, claims, personnel and sales, ultimately selling Allstate Insurance out of a Sear’s store.
The author of the agency’s professional blog, Tim regularly writes about personal insurance, and several blogs detailing personal interests. Locally, he serves as chairman of the East Hampton Community Preservation Fund (CPF) advisory board, evaluating and prioritizing properties for public preservation. He has also been active as a coach in youth sports and is past president of East Hampton Little League.
Tim received his certified insurance counselor (CIC) designation in 1991 and has been an active participant in insurance company advisory panels, as well as a past national chairman for the Encompass (formerly CNA) and Hartford advisory organizations.
He is a graduate of Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA, where he earned a B.A. in business administration in 1980. Tim and his wife Debbie, a realtor and vice president at Corcoran in Bridgehampton, live in East Hampton. They have two sons: Zachary, who is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and a former All American lacrosse player, and Tyler, who followed his brother to Notre Dame, also playing lacrosse, and is a senior with a double major in economics and political science.Our Team Directory
