Tim Brenneman is Executive Vice President and leads the Personal Insurance & Private Client business units of Cook Maran.
Responsible for the agency’s 12,000 personal insurance clients, Tim oversees a sales and service team of 53 people working out of 6 offices. He created and directs the Private Client Services division, dedicated to providing risk assessment and insurance for successful individuals and families. Most recently he established Cook Maran Services as the educational arm of the company and regularly facilitates real estate licensing and continuing education classes in the company’s offices.
Tim also directs Blue Point Brokerage, the company’s wholesale organization, and serves as a Program Administrator and Coverholder for Lexington and Lloyds respectively. Blue Point has property programs for personal and commercial insurance for insurance brokers in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut but is primarily focused on the E&S needs of the greater Cook Maran and Prime Risk organization.
A graduate from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA in 1980 with a BA in Business Administration, Tim began his insurance career with Allstate in 1981 where he held management positions in operations, personnel, claims, and sales. He joined Crum & Forster Personal Insurance four years later and held both field and home office sales management positions. He joined the Edward F. Cook Agency in East Hampton, NY in 1989.
Tim received his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation in 1991. He has been an active participant in insurance carrier advisory panels and is past national chairman for the Encompass (formerly CNA), Hartford, and Narragansett advisory boards.
Active in his East Hampton community, Tim is past president of Little League and has chaired several advisory committees in East Hampton Town including the Community Preservation Fund (CPF). He was appointed to the East Hampton Zoning Board of Appeals in 2019 and will serve a 5 year term. Tim is also a member of the board of directors for South Fork Country Club in Amagansett.
A frequent contributor to the company’s professional blog, Tim regularly writes about personal insurance, and also authors several blogs detailing personal interests. He lists family, travel, gardening, and golf as just some of those interests.
Tim and his wife Debbie, a real estate broker for Corcoran, reside in East Hampton. They have two sons currently working and residing in New York, Zachary and Tyler.Our Team Directory
