As vice president, Kimet Speed is the director of training and quality assurance, where she works with both the commercial and personal lines departments of Cook Maran. She has held this position since July 2018.
Prior to her current role, Kimet managed various commercial insurance units, in various Long Island offices, from 2005–2018. Most recently, the groups she managed were the construction and support teams. Before those positions, she spent two years supervising the Plainview, NY, personal insurance department of Cook, Hall & Hyde, which would later merge with Maran Corporate Risk Associates to create Cook Maran & Associates in 2012. Kimet began her career with Cook, Hall & Hyde in 2000 as a personal insurance customer service representative before earning her property and casualty insurance license in 2001. She then became a customer service representative and was later promoted to supervisor of the personal insurance department in East Hampton.
She has earned the designations of certified insurance counselor (CIC) and certified risk manager (CRM), and in 2007 received a Long Island Business News “40 Under 40” award based on her leadership in business, her support of Long Island nonprofit organizations and her commitment to the community.
Before beginning her insurance career, Kimet spent nearly four years as an assistant manager at Brooks Brothers in Riverhead, NY, after receiving her bachelor’s degree in musical theater with a minor in education from Syracuse University.
A Westhampton native, Kimet still resides there with her husband and two children. She is actively involved with the North Fork Community Theatre in Mattituck, the Riverhead Faculty and Community Theatre in Riverhead and other community theatre organizations.
