Edward Walsh, Cook Maran’s executive vice president, employee benefits, is responsible for all sales and account management functions of the employee benefits division and utilizes his vast experience with a healthcare insurance carrier to guide clients through the changing national healthcare legislative landscape.
Ed has been with the agency since 2001, beginning with Arnone, Lowth, Fanning, Wilson, Nuzzi and Arnstein Benefits Group, LLC, through its merger with Cook, Hall & Hyde in 2003 and the subsequent merger with Maran Corporate Risk Associates that created Cook Maran & Associates in 2012. The agency was renamed Cook Maran when it became a Prime Risk Partner in 2015.
He previously worked at Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield from 1978 in various sales positions, rising to the position of vice president of labor sales in 1993. In this capacity, he was responsible for sales and account management for all Empire’s Taft-Hartley Welfare Fund clients, which represented nearly a half billion dollars in annual premiums. Ed left Empire to run the stop loss division of a small managing general underwriter (MGU) in New York City where his responsibilities included sales, client management and underwriting.
Ed has participated in many seminars and discussion groups lending his expertise in the healthcare field, is past president of the Blue Cross Association National Labor Board and sits on the broker advisory council of Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield and United Healthcare.
Born and raised on Long Island, he attended St. John’s University and graduated in 1978 with a bachelor’s degree from the School of Business.
He has been married for over 35 years to his wife, Eileen, and they have four married daughters and four grandchildren. He has been a member of the St. Rose of Lima School Board for six years, and he and his wife have been very active with their parish. Ed is past chairperson of the St. Rose of Lima School Family Festival, the school’s annual major fundraiser.Our Team Directory
