Construction practice coordinator Bret L. McCabe places all insurance policies for Cook Maran’s large construction-based accounts. Bret is also a practicing attorney who specializes in construction law and is responsible for all legal work for the firm’s construction clients. This includes drafting, negotiating, and reviewing all project agreements, trade contractor agreements, and hold harmless provisions. Bret serves as an extension of his clients’ operations and helps implement the protocols necessary to negotiate the best coverage terms and pricing from carriers.
He is admitted to practice in the N.Y.S. Unified Court System, the N.Y.S. Supreme Court Appellate Division, the U.S.D.C. Southern District of New York, and the U.S.D.C. Eastern District of New York. Before joining Cook Maran as a client adviser in 2017, Bret was a private practice transactional and litigation attorney representing major New York City real estate developers, construction managers, and general contractors. He also has nearly two decades of construction field experience, starting as a laborer, and progressing to project manager, estimator, superintendent, director of operations, and VP of numerous contracting firms.
Bret earned his Juris Doctor degree from Villanova University School of Law and his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Chaminade High School alumni association, and is a past member of the University of South Florida judicial committee.Our Team Directory
