“Starting in January 2018, Paid Family Leave (PFL) will take effect for New Yorkers. NY PFL will be one of the most comprehensive paid family leave programs in the country. All New York “covered employers” (typically private sector employers with one or more employees who have private sector statutory disability insurance / DBL), have to provide PFL as well.
PFL coverage allows employees to take paid time off for certain qualifying events while their job and health insurance are protected. PFL will be a mandatory rider to the DBL policy.”
